Walking into Chris LaPorte’s studio, is like a trippy time machine destination that brings me back to my art school days. It is filled with reference materials, paint, pencils, finished art work and stuff in progress. It’s one of those messy artist spaces, but in reality, mess isn’t the right word… it’s just the process of an artist on display. My studio is right next to the Art Prize winner’s, so for months we have heard the constant scribbles on the other side of the wall as he works to finish another large commission. Often my curiosity gets the best of me, and I end up being that interruptive fan that wants to chat and get Chris off the ladder for a bit. He was gracious enough to let me stop in recently and shoot some progress photos as he works to finish his latest piece.
If you get a chance, check out his work - I promise you won’t be disappointed.
For this shoot I used my 35mm and my 70-200.
