Fill the Stands

A simple photo went viral that inspired a wonderful community outreach effort to ‘fill the stands’ at a home game for the Union Red Hawks. The team works hard but typically plays to very small crowds. On this night, as the number one team in the state rolled in, the West Side community crowd did not disappoint. Although the weather was a little cold and rainy, the cheers and chants for the Redhawks brought the stadium alive under those Friday night lights. Cheering on tackles and completions just so these kids could hear their support and feel the love. It was a beautiful expression of what community can look like. I had the pleasure of being on the sideline to take some photos to help celebrate them in these moments. Hats off to all the community and alumni that showed up cheer these kids on. I hope this is the start of some continued beautiful support!! See you at the Jenison game this week!
